Primary hemiarthroplasty with straight stem endoprosthesis in elderly patients with femoral neck fractures

Between 1990-1995, in Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of GATA Haydarpasa Training Hospital, primary hemiarthroplasty with Muller Straight Stem Endoprosthesis was performed in highly osteoporotic and elderly 80 patients with intracapsular femoral neck fractures. 66 patients, which ware followed-up minimum 6 months (ranging between 6 months and 38 months). According to Modified Harris Hip Scoring system we obtained excellent, good and fair results in 59 (89.4 %) patients and poor result in 7 (10.6 %) patients. Our results are congruous with the literature. In our opinion, primary hemiarthroplasty with Muller Straight Stem endoprosthesis is a good alternative in the treatment of highly osteoporotic and elderly patients with femoral neck fractures.

1990-1995 yılları arasında GATA Haydarpaşa Eğitim Hastanesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Kliniği'nde in-trakapsüler femur boyun kırığı olan, ilen derecede osteoporotik ileri yaş gurubundan 80 hastada primer olarak Müller modüler düz saptı (straight stem) endoprotezleri konularak tedavi edildi. En az 6 ay süre ile takip et-tiğimiz 66 hasta değerlendirmeye alındı. En az takip süremiz 6 ay, en çok 38 ay olmak üzere ortalama takip süremiz 20.1 aydır. Modifiye Harris kalça skalasına göre hastalarımızın %89.4'ünde çok iyi, iyi ve orta sonuç, %10.6'sında ise kötü sonuç elde edildi. Osteoporotik ve kollum femoris kırıklı yaşlı hastalarda düz saplı (straight stem) endoprotez alternatif bir tedavi olarak düşünülebilir.
