Öz

The aim of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic growth in the sample of G-7 countries in the 2000-2020 periods. In this regard, in the example of G-7 countries, panel cointegration and panel causality analyzes were conducted to determine a possible relationship between these two variables in the 2000-2020 period.As a result of cointegration test performed for the 2000-2020 period in the G-7 countries, it has been found that there is a cointegration relationship between economic growth and foreign direct investments variables. In addition, according to the results of the panel causality test for the 2000-2020 periods in the G-7 countries, no causality relationship was found from FDI to economic growth, but it was concluded that there was a one-way causality relationship from economic growth to FDI.

DOĞRUDAN YABANCI SERMAYE YATIRIMLARI İKTİSADİ BÜYÜME İLİŞKİSİ: G-7 ÜLKELERİ ÜZERİNE BİR ANALİZ (2000-2020)

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı G-7 ülkeleri örneğinde 2000-2020 döneminde doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımları (DYY) ile iktisadi büyüme arasında ilişki olup olmadığını belirlemektir. Bu çerçevede G-7 ülkeleri örneğinde 2000-2020 döneminde bu iki değişken arasında muhtemel bir ilişkiyi tespit etmek için panel eşbütünleşme ve panel nedensellik analizleri yapılmıştır. G-7 ülkeleri örneğinde 2000-2020 dönemi için yapılan eşbütünleşme testine göre iktisadi büyüme ve DYY değişkenleri arasında eşbütünleşme ilişkisi olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca G-7 ülkeleri örneğinde 2000-2020 dönemi için yapılan panel nedensellik testi sonuçlarına göre DYY’den iktisadi büyümeye doğru nedensellik ilişkisi bulunamamış, buna karşın iktisadi büyümeden DYY’ye doğru tek yönlü nedensellik ilişkisine ulaşılmıştır.
