One of the most prominent concepts in recent times to prevent negative situations that may arise from the excessive use of digital media is digital disconnection. This study examines university students’ motivations/strategies for daily digital disconnection and the relationship between digital disconnection and brain rot. In this quantitative study, data were collected from a sample group of 674 Turkish university students. According to the results obtained within the scope of the study, university students generally have a medium level of digital disconnection motivation and strategy. Among the motivations for digital disconnection, the most common reason was identified as “not wanting information and photos to be included in digital media”. The most frequently applied strategy in the process of digital disconnection was “muting notifications from group chats in messaging applications”.
