Boş Zaman Çalışmalarında Bayesçi Doğrusal Regresyon Analizinin Kullanımı

Öz

Nicel boş zaman araştırmalarında klasik frekansçı yaklaşım çok yaygın olarak kullanılmakla birlikte, Bayes teoreminin yeterince yer almadığı görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada boş zaman motivasyonunun (İçsel motivasyon: bilme, başarma, deneyim hazzı; Dışsal motivasyon: içselleştirme, statü, kimlik ve Amotivasyon) spor yaşamı kalitesi üzerindeki etkisi Bayesçi doğrusal regresyon analizi ile incelenmiştir. İçselleştirme, deneyim hazzı, amotivasyon ve statüyü içeren dört boş zaman motivasyonu değişkeninin yer aldığı model, spor yaşamı kalitesini 64,56 kat daha iyi tahminleme olasılığına (BFM) sahiptir. Frekansçı regresyon analizinde tüm boş zaman motivasyonları değişkenleri ile daha fazla R2 elde edilmesine rağmen, bu modelin yukarıdaki dört değişkenli modele göre kabul edilme olasılığı (BF10) sadece 0,0174’tür. Bayesçi doğrusal regresyon analizinin, klasik frekansçı yaklaşıma ek olarak kullanılması, araştırmalardan elde edilecek istatistiksel çıkarımların zenginleştirilmesine yardımcı olabilecektir.

Using Bayesian Linear Regression Analysis in Leisure Studies

Abstract

It is seen that the classical frequency approach is widely used in quantitative leisure studies. However, Bayes’ theorem is not sufficiently evaluated and used. The effects of leisure motivation (Intrinsic motivation: to know, to accomplish, to experience stimulation; Extrinsic motivation: identified, introjected, external regulation and Amotivation) on quality of sports life within the context of Bayesian linear regression analysis, were examined comparatively in this study. The model with the four leisure motivation variables, which includes introjected, experience stimulation, amotivation and status, has the probability to predict the quality of sports life 64.56 (BFM) times better. Despite the fact that all the variables of leisure motivation in frequentist regression analysis are achieved more R2 value, the observed data are only 0.017 (BF10) times more likely under the model containing all the variables of leisure motivation as a predictor compared to the model that also specifies four variables of leisure motivation. The adoption of the Bayesian linear regression analysis in addition to the classical frequentist approach will help to enhance the statistical inferences from research studies.
