Diş hekimliği uygulamalarına ilişkin bilişler ölçeği-DBÖ: üniversite öğrencilerinde geçerlilik

Öz

Purpose: Anxiety of dentist and dental treatment are quite common problem in general population. Cognitive factors, such as negative thinking, beliefs and expectations about dental treatment are important moderators to be associated with dental anxiety. The aim of this study was to assess the reliability, validity and psychometric characteristics of the Turkish translation of The Dental Cognition Questionnaire (DCQ) that assess the cognitive factors related to dental anxiety Material and Methods: In this study, 177 randomly selected medical students of the University of Istanbul were included. The Dental Cognition Questionnaire, The State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-Trait), The Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS) were administered to all the participants. The general information form was used to obtain sociodemographic data. All participants again completed the scale after two weeks for test-retest. Cronbach’s alpha, Pearson correlation coefficient and t-test methods were conducted, percentage, mean and standard deviation values were calculated. Results: The mean DCQ-F scores were 11, 45± 7, 27; the mean DCQ-B scores were 52, 51± 30,21. No significant difference was found between women and men groups in terms of the means DCQ-F and DCQ-B (p>0,05). There were significant correlation (Pearson) between DCQ-F and STAI- Trait (p<0,01) and M-DAS (p<0,001). But no significant was found between DCQ-B and other scales (p>0,05). Internal consistency coefficient was calculated for DCQ-F as 0,98 and for DCQ-B as 0,88. The mean item-total correlation for the DCQ was 0.85 (Range r=0.63; p<0.001-item 7 to r=0.81; p<0.001-item 21). The test-retest reliability of the DCQ was found to be r=0,76 (p<0,0001).Conclusion: The results of the present study indicate that the Turkish version of DCQ is a valid and reliable scale for research conducted in our country.

Öz

Amaç: Diş hekiminden ya da tedavisinden anksiyete duyma toplumda yaygın görülen bir problemdir. Tedaviye ilişkin olumsuz düşünceler, inanç ve beklentiler gibi bilişsel faktörler dental anksiyete ile ilişkili olabilecek önemli belirleyicilerdir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, dental anksiyete ile ilgili bilişsel faktörleri değerlendiren Diş Hekimliği Uygulamalarına İlişkin Bilişler Ölçeği (DBÖ)’nin Türkçe versiyonunun psikometrik özelliklerini ve geçerlilik, güvenirliğini saptamaktır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmanın örneklemini İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi’nde öğrenim gören 177 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Tüm katılımcılara Diş Hekimliği Uygulamalarına İlişkin Bilişler Ölçeği (DBÖ), Sürekli Kaygı Ölçeği (STAI-A) ve Modifiye Edilmiş Diş Anksiyetesi Ölçeği (M-DAS) uygulanmıştır. Sosyodemografik veriler genel bilgi formu ile alınmıştır Katılımcıların tamamı testtekrar test kapsamında iki hafta sonra yeniden ölçekleri doldurmuştur. Verilerin analizinde Cronbach alfa, Pearson momentler çarpımı bağıntı katsayısı ve ttesti yöntemleri kullanılmış, yüzde, ortalama ve standart sapma değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Bulgular: DBÖ-F ortalaması 11,45± 7,27 ve DBÖ-B ortalaması 52,51± 30,21’di, kadın ve erkek grupları arasında DBÖ-F ve DBÖ-B ortalaması açısından anlamlı bir fark saptanmamıştır (p>0,05). DBÖ-F ölçeği ile SKÖ (p<0,01) ve MDAS (p<0,001) ölçekleri arasında anlamlı bir ilişki vardır. Ancak DBÖ-B ile diğer ölçekler arasında anlamlı bir korelasyon bulunmamıştır (p>0,05). Cronbach Alfa iç tutarlık katsayısı DBÖ-F için 0,98 ve DBÖ-B için 0,88 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Ölçeğin ortalama madde toplam korelasyonu 0,85’dir (Range r=0,63;p<0,001- madde7 ile r=0,81;p<0,001- madde 21) DBÖ’nün test-tekrar test güvenirliği r=0,76 (p<0,001) olarak bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Bu çalışmanın sonuçları DBÖ’nün Türkçe versiyonunun ülkemizde yürütülen araştırmalar için geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçek olduğunu göstermektedir.
