Visually impaired individuals face with many challenges in daily life. As a result of daily oral care procedure which can not be performed adequately, it is reported that dental caries and periodontal diseases are more common in individuals with visual impairment. Many recommendations were proposed for improving the effectiveness of daily oral care of these individuals. Studies highlighted the importance of giving information to the parents and caretakers about the prognosis of oral diseases and about to diet preference, as well as the importance of the recall appointments which were carried out with frequent intervals. The aims of this review study are that; 1) evaluating together the current reports specific to oral health of the visually impaired individuals, 2) making suggestions aiming the increase the awareness of dentists about the appropriate approach methods to these patients who are relatively rarely encountered in dental clinics
