BİR ÜNİVERSİTE HASTANESİNDE HEMŞİRELERİN ELDİVEN KULLANMA VE EL YIKAMA UYGULAMALARININ İNCELENMESİ

Öz

Bu araştırma bir üniversite hastanesinin yetişkin dahili ve cerrahi servislerinde çalışan hemşirelerin eldiven kullanma ve el yıkama davranışlarının incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmaya 15’i dahili servislerden 15’i cerrahi servislerden olmak üzere 30 hemşire katılmıştır. Araştırma verileri katılımsız gözlem tekniği ile toplanmıştır. Araştırmacı tarafından hemşirelerin eldiven kullanma ve el yıkama davranışları gözlenmiş, kullanılan eldiven ve eldivenle temas edilen yüzeylerden örnek alınarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmaya katılan hemşirelerin eldiven giyinmeden önce ve eldiveni çıkardıktan sonra el yıkama oranları düşük bulunmuştur. Hemşirelerin bir eldiveni değiştirmeksizin kullanma süresinin 5 ile 50 dakika arasında değiştiği saptanmıştır. Kullanılan eldivenlerin tamamında ve eldivenle temas edilen yüzeylerin 1/3’ünde mikroorganizma ürediği, eldivenin elde kalma süresi uzadıkça üreyen mikroorganizma sayısının arttığı belirlenmiştir. Hemşirelerin eldivenle yapılması gerekmeyen işlemlerde eldiven kullanma (%89) ve eldivenle temas ettikleri alana daha sonra çıplak elle dokunma oranlarının (%80) yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu çalışmada hemşirelerin büyük bir kısmının eldiven giyinmeden önce ve eldiveni çıkardıktan sonra ellerini yıkamadıkları, eldivenlerin tamamında üreme olduğu ve hemşireler arasında gereksiz eldiven kullanımının yaygın olduğu belirlendi. El yıkama ve eldivenin uygun kullanımı hakkındaki eğitim programları gereksiz eldiven kullanımını ve kontaminasyon riskini azaltabilir.
