STRESLE BAŞETMEDE ÖNEMLİ BİR YOL: MİZAHIN KULLANIMI

Öz

Mizah; yaşamdaki durumların acayipliğini ya da uygunsuzluğunu şakacı biçimde keşfetme, ifade etme
ya da onaylama yoluyla sağlığı ve iyiliği geliştiren her türlü girişim olarak tanımlanmakta ve fiziksel, duygusal,
bilişsel, sosyal ve spiritüel anlamda iyileşme ya da baş etme için hastalığın tamamlayıcı bir tedavisi olarak
kullanılabileceği ifade edilmektedir. Mizah; stres yaratan durumlarda, bireyin kendisini stres yaratan bu
durumdan bilişsel olarak ayrıştırarak olaya uzaktan bakmasını, böylece eski olumsuz düşüncelerini bırakarak
yeni ve gerçekçi düşünce ve davranış seçenekleri oluşturmasını sağlar. Böylece birey, daha olumlu duygular
hissetmeye başlar, yaşanan bu duygu stresi daha baş edilir kılabilir. Bu etkileri nedeniyle hemşirelerin hem
kendileri hem de hastaları ya da hasta yakınları ile etkileşimlerinde mizahın kullanımını teşvik etmeleri uygun
olabilir. Bu makalede mizahın stresle başetme ile ilişkisi incelenmiş, hemşirelere ruh sağlığının korunmasında
yol gösterici olacağı düşünülmüş ve mizahı kullanma becerilerini geliştirmeleri için bazı öneriler sunulmuştur.
