MASARIDAE (HYMENOPTERA, VESPOIDEA) OF TURKEY

This study is based upon material colleaed from different locaiîties of Turkey between 1976-1996, and the olher related studies are reviewed. in this study, 15 species and subspecies belonged to 4 genera in ıhe subfamily Masarinae are recorded. The type localilies of 4 species and 2 subspecies are in Turkey. Some new localities are found for some species which have aiready bcen reponed in Turkey. The family Masaridae knovvn as pollen wasps derived into tvvo subfamilies, Eııparagiinae and Masarinae (Borror et al.,1981). Euparaginae includes 9 species in one genus and distributed in only southvvestem nearctic region, Masarinae has about 250 species in 19 geneTa and distributed in Australia, southern_A£nca , Neotropics, U.S.A. and Mediteıranean regions (Carpenter, 1991). Masarinae make nests of mud or sand attached to rocks or twigs and provision their nests with pollen and nectar; Euparagiinae constructs nests in ground with a curved tıured at the surface and provision their nests with vveevi! larvae (Borror et al.,1981).
