In the IX-X centuries, military-political and economic-trade relations between the Khazar Khaganate and the Russian Principality (Kingdom) were one of the significant stages in the history of Eastern Europe. The Khazar Khaganate, one of the most powerful states of its time, is one of the longest-lived Turkic empires. The IX-X centuries can be characterized as a period of collapse of the Khazar Khaganate. Meanwhile, Russia appeared in the political arena. The relations between Khazar Khaganate and the Russian Principality had a political and geographical impact on the overall region. Azerbaijan, which borders the Khazar Khaganate from the south, was affected by the consequences of these relations. In this article, the author analyzes the Khazar-Russia relations and tries to draw attention to the influence of other forces in the region.

Xəzər Xaqanlığı və Rus knyazlığı arasında hərbi-siyasi, iqtisadi-ticari münasibətlər IX-X əsrlər Şərqi Avropa tarixinin önəmli mərhələlərdəndir. Xəzər Xaqanlığı dövrünün ən güclü dövlətlərindən və ən uzunömürlü Türk imperiyalarından biridir. IX-X əsrlər Xəzər imperiyanın tənəzzül mərhələsi hesab olunur. Bu mərhələdə ruslar siyasi arenaya çıxır. Onlar arasındakı münasibətlər bütün bölgə üzərində siyasi və coğrafi təsir yaratdı. Məqalənin müəllifi, Xəzər-Rus münasibətlərini analiz edərək, bölgədəki digər güclərə diqqət çəkməyə çalışmaqdadır.
