Apollonius of Tyana Ancient Time/Greek Philosopher

Abstract

Apollonius, who was born in ancient Tyana, one of the well-known philosophers, healers and rhetoricians of the Ancient Period, has an important place in the history of Anatolian thought with his life, personality and legends. Apollonius, who made a name for himself in the aftermath as well as in ancient times, during his journey from Anatolia to India, Rome, Greece and Ethiopia, attracted the attention of many Roman emperors with his life, except his travels, lessons and his system of thought. The sources written and compiled about his life took place in the archives of the Roman Empire and made him known as an important thinker and orator (rhetor) in the history of Anatolian philosophy. Although there are various speculations about his birth and life, and especially allusions to religious references, only the identity of the thinker will be focused here.

Antik Çağ Filozofu Tyanalı Apollonius

Öz

Antik Dönem’in tanınmış filozof, şifacı ve retoriklerinden olan antik Tyana şehrinde doğmuş Apollonius; hayatı, kişiliği ve efsaneleri ile Anadolu düşünce tarihinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Antik dönemlerde olduğu gibi sonrasında da adından söz ettiren Apollonius, Anadolu’dan Hindistan’a, Roma, Yunanistan ve Etiyopya’ya uzanan yolculuğunda, yapmış olduğu seyahatler, verdiği dersler ve düşünce sistemi dışında yaşamıyla da birçok Roma imparatorunun ilgisini çekmiştir. Hayatına dair yazılan ve derlenen kaynaklar, Roma İmparatorluğu’nun arşivlerinde yer alarak Anadolu felsefe tarihinde önemli bir düşünür ve hatip olarak tanınmasını sağlamıştır. Doğumu ve yaşamına dair çeşitli spekülasyonlar ve özellikle de dini referanslara göndermeler olsa da burada yalnızca düşünür kimliğine odaklanılacaktır.
