Öz

M. Ö. 2. binyıl Anadolu’sunun büyük bir siyasi gücü olan Hititler, bıraktıkları çivi yazılı tabletleri ile dönemin tarihine ışık tutmuştur. Bu belgelerde, Hititçe sözcüklerin yanında Akadça ve Sumerce gibi dillerden sözcükler de yer almaktadır. Çeşitli Hitit metinlerinde yer alan ve anlamı konusunda farklı fikirlerin mevcut olduğu bir sözcük, Akadça TUDITTU(M) kelimesidir. Özellikle kadınlarla ve tanrıçalarla özdeşleştirilen TUDITTU(M), adeta onların birer sembolü şeklindedir. Tanrıça Hépat ve Zintuhi’nin göğsü için bir süs olarak yapılmış ve kutsal bir öneme sahip olduğu vurgulanmıştır. Bundan başka, rahibelere hediye olarak verilen TUDITTU(M), kadınların kullandıkları eşyalar arasında sayılmaktadır. Altın, gümüş ve demir gibi çeşitli ve kıymetli madenlerden yapıldığı belgelerde tespit edilen bu nesne, ritüel çukurlarının kazılması için de kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca bir sembol gibi asılan TUDITTU(M), Hitit dünyasında kadınları ve tanrıçaları temsil eden, bir süs eşyası şeklinde kullanılan bir nesne olarak belgelerdeki yerini almıştır.

An Object Representing Women and Goddesses in Hittite Texts: TUDITTU(M)

Öz

Hittites, a great political power in the 2nd millennium BC Anatolia, shed light on the history of the period with the cuneiform tablets they left. In those documents, words belonging to such languages as Akkadian and Sumerian take place beside those of Hittite. A word which takes place in various Hittite texts and for which there are different ideas about its meaning, is the Akkadian word TUDITTU(M). TUDITTU(M) which is especially identified with women and goddesses is almost like a symbol of them. It was made as an ornament for the chest of the goddesses Hépat and Zintuhi, and its was emphasized that it has a sacred significance. In addition, TUDITTU(M) which was given as a gift to the priestess is regarded as the objects used by women. This object which was ascertained in documents as being made of various and precious metals such as gold, silver and iron was also used for digging ritual pits. Likewise, TUDITTU(M) that is hung like a symbol, it took its place in the documents as an object that was used as an brooch which represents women and goddesses in the Hittite world.
