Öz
As an essential mega event, Expos are exhibitions that severely impact most cities with a history that goes back a long way. The themes determined by the exhibitions organized in four different categories over the years also show us the variability of the world and human history, as they are in the form of a collective search for solutions to the problems faced by humanity with the access of participants from all over the world. Fairs where new inventions were introduced during the industrial and development period centered on humanism during the war period. Along with global warming, environmental problems, and epidemics, the prominent themes of recent years are sustainability, environment, ecology, protection, culture, and sustainability. Among these exhibitions, Expo 2020 Dubai hosted countries with the theme of “connecting minds, creating the future” to invite participants to develop ideas on sustainability and design pavilions. The study drew a theoretical framework on sustainability at Expos. He evaluated its application through the examples of the Italian, Belgian, and Brazilian pavilions at the 2020 Dubai Expo.

Önemli bir mega etkinlik olarak Expo’lar oldukça geriye uzanan tarihi ile çoğu kentlerin üzerinde ciddi etkileri bulunan sergilerdir. Dört farklı kategoride düzenlenen sergilerin yıllar boyunca belirlediği temalar ise insanoğlunun yaşadığı sorunlara dünya genelindeki katılımcıların erişimiyle kolektif bir çözüm arayışı şeklinde olması nedeniyle dünya ve insanlık tarihinin değişkenliğini de bize göstermektedir. Sanayi ile kalkınma döneminde yeni icatların tanıtıldığı fuarlar savaş döneminde hümanizmi merkeze almışlardır. Küresel ısınma, çevre sorunları, salgın hastalıklarla birlikte son yılların öne çıkan temaları ise sürdürülebilirlik, çevre, ekoloji, koruma, kültür veya sürdürülebilirlik üzerinedir. Bu sergilerden Expo 2020 Dubai, “zihinleri birleştirmek, geleceği yaratmak” temasıyla katılımcıları sürdürülebilirlik üzerine fikir geliştirmek ve pavyonlar tasarlamak üzere ülkelere ev sahipliği yapmıştır. Çalışma Expo’larda sürdürülebilirlik üzerine teorik bir çerçeve çizmiş; uygulamasını ise 2020 Dubai Expo’sunda yer alan İtalya, Belçika ve Brezilya pavyonları örnekleri üzerinden değerlendirmiştir.
