Stereotyped Expressions Formed with Sea Animals and Bird Species in Turkish and Greek

Öz

In this study, the stereotyped expressions formed with animal names in Turkish and Greek are analysed. The sample of the study includes expressions formed with marine animals and bird species in both languages. Firstly, these expressions were analysed in both languages based on comparative linguistics methods and classified according to qualitative methods and content analysis. The frequency of use and semantic connotations of the animal names used in Turkish and Greek in the context of language and culture were determined in order to reveal their function, coding and place in the cognition systems in both cultures. In Turkish, 16 stereotyped expressions formed with 5 different sea animals and in Greek, 29 stereotyped expressions formed with 9 different sea animals were identified. In expressions involving bird species, 51 stereotyped expressions with 13 different bird species in Turkish and 29 stereotyped expressions with 10 different bird species in Greek were identified. The expressions between the two languages mostly show equivalent semantic connotations. It is aimed to create data to be used in the acquisition and translation studies of Turkish and Greek languages and to contribute to the linguistic studies between the two languages. Türkçe ve Yunancada Deniz Hayvanları ve Kuş Türleri ile Oluşturulan Kalıplaşmış İfadeler

Öz

Bu çalışmada, Türkçe ve Yunancada hayvan ismi ile oluşturulan kalıplaşmış ifadelerin analizi yapılmaktadır. Çalışmanın örnekleminde her iki dilde deniz hayvanları ve kuş türleri ile oluşturulan ifadeler yer almaktadır. İlk olarak söz konusu ifadeler her iki dilde de karşılaştırmalı dilbilim yöntemlerine dayanarak incelenmiş, nitel yöntemlere ve içerik analizine göre sınıflandırılmıştır. Türkçe ve Yunancada kullanılan hayvan isimlerinin dil ve kültür bağlamında kullanım sıklığı ve anlamsal çağrışımları tespit edilerek her iki kültürdeki işlevi, kodlanması ve kavrayış sistemlerindeki yerleri ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Türkçede 5 farklı deniz hayvanı ile oluşturulan 16, Yunancada ise 9 farklı deniz hayvanı ile oluşturulan 29 kalıplaşmış ifade tespit edilmiştir. Kuş türü içeren ifadelerde ise Türkçede 13 farklı kuş türü ile 51, Yunancada ise 10 farklı kuş türü ile oluşturulan 29 kalıplaşmış ifade tespit edilmiştir. İki dil arasında yer alan ifadeler çoğunlukla eşdeğer anlamsal çağrışımlar göstermektedir. Türkçe ve Yunanca dillerinin ediniminde ve çeviri çalışmalarında kullanılmak üzere bir veri oluşturmak ve iki dil arasındaki dilbilim çalışmalarına katkı sağlamak amaçlanmaktadır. Böylelikle çalışma aynı zamanda kültürel aşinalık geliştirmenin kolaylığını ve zorluğunu değerlendirmenin temelini oluşturabilecektir.
