The Methodology of Forming the Print Run Policy in the Book Publishing Process in Western Europe

Abstract

The article provides a methodological analysis of the historical and contemporary stages in forming the print run policy within the book publishing process in Western Europe. Beginning with the emergence of printing technology in the 15th century, it demonstrates the interrelation of book print runs with social, economic, and cultural factors. In the modern era, the study examines the marketing-based management of the book market, the study of readers’ psychological and social demands, and the impact of electronic and digital publications on print run planning. Additionally, the experiences of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are presented comparatively, highlighting national and regional differences in methodological approaches.
