Dokuma Sanatı (Azetta): Geleneksel Zanaatkârlık ve Amazigh Mirasından Değerinin Artırılması Gerekliliğine

Öz

Azetta, Cezayir’in Amazigh bölgelerinde uygulanan geleneksel dokuma süreci olarak ülkenin somut ve somut olmayan kültürel mirasının önemli bir bileşenini oluşturmaktadır. Bu uygulama, Amazigh kadınları, tekstil üretimi ve kültürel bilginin kuşaklar arası aktarımı arasındaki yakın ilişkiyi ortaya koymaktadır. Halı, giysi ve diğer tekstil ürünlerinin üretiminin ötesinde Azetta; yerel tarih, kimlik ve topluluk ile çevre arasındaki ilişkinin çeşitli yönlerinin yeniden üretildiği ritüeller, inançlar, semboller ve sözlü aktarım biçimleriyle birlikte yürütülmektedir. Bu çalışma, Azetta’yı Cezayir’in Kabiliye bölgesinde geleneksel bir zanaat ve yaşayan kültürel miras biçimi olarak ele almakta; özellikle Amazigh kadınlarının bu mirasın korunması ve kuşaklar arası aktarımındaki rolüne odaklanmaktadır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma deseni benimsenmiş ve tarihsel yöntem ile betimsel-analitik yöntem birlikte kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın temel ampirik dayanağını, 2023 yılında Bejaia Vilayeti’nin Tazmalt bölgesinde gerçekleştirilen gözlem ve saha çalışması oluşturmaktadır. Bulgular, Azetta’nın yalnızca bir tekstil üretim tekniği olmadığını; kültürel pratiklerin, sembolik anlamların ve kolektif belleğin korunması ve aktarılmasında işlev gören bir araç olduğunu göstermektedir. Araştırma ayrıca sosyoekonomik ve kültürel dönüşümlerin geleneksel dokumanın sürekliliğini zayıflattığını ortaya koymakta; sistematik belgeleme, kuşaklar arası aktarım, kurumsal destek ve kültürel değerinin güçlendirilmesine duyulan ihtiyete işaret etmektedir.

The Art of Weaving (Azetta): From Traditional Craftsmanship and Amazigh Heritage to the Imperative of Valorization

Öz

Azetta, the traditional weaving process practiced in Amazigh regions of Algeria, constitutes an important component of the country’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The practice demonstrates a close relationship between Amazigh women, textile production, and the transmission of cultural knowledge across generations. Beyond the production of carpets, clothing, and other textiles, Azetta is accompanied by rituals, beliefs, symbols, and forms of oral transmission through which aspects of local history, identity, and the relationship between community and environment are reproduced. This study examines Azetta in the Kabyle region of Algeria as a traditional craft and a form of living cultural heritage, with particular attention to the role of Amazigh women in its preservation and intergenerational transmission. The study employs a qualitative research design combining historical and descriptive-analytical methods. Observation and fieldwork conducted in Tazmalt, Bejaia Province, in 2023 constitute the principal empirical basis of the research. The findings indicate that Azetta functions not only as a textile-production technique but also as a medium through which cultural practices, symbolic meanings, and collective memory are maintained and transmitted. The study further demonstrates that socioeconomic and cultural transformations have weakened the continuity of traditional weaving, highlighting the need for systematic documentation, intergenerational transmission, institutional support, and cultural valorization.
