Modernism in Southern Azerbaijani Literature

Abstract

The modern Southern Azerbaijani literature preserves its originality while the integration to the Eastern Europe values and Globalization. The great literary heritage, the power giving birth to this definition created by the Southern Azerbaijani literature splendid figures and the modern literature distinguishing within the last period by its dynamic development is subject of various debate and discussion on the different contexts. It is to be noted that the modern Southern Azerbaijani literature has passed five phases of development until reaching this state. Four of these stages of development – the period of Meshrute (1906-11), the period of movement headed by Khiyabani (1920), the Revolution of 21 Azer – the period of National Government and finally the forth – the period enbracing the Islamic Revolution of Iran of 1978-79 were became apparent on the polytical and the fifth period – the period of White Revolution – on literary context. Naturally, the literature reflecting the social and political events of these periods has obligatorily passed these stages of development too. But, beginning from 1960s, the movement “shiri-no” (modern poetry) in Iran and Southern Azerbaijan, the waves of white poems – the White Revolution were appeared, namely the mentioned cultural revolution strengthened the process of modernization in this geographical space
