Some Suggestions on The Time of Phrygian Migrations

Öz

As it is known, Phrygians are a group of people who dominated over the Central Anatolia and Central Western Anatolia lands after the Hittite Empire collapsed by the Sea Peoples (Eagean Sea) Migration. However, it is necessary to underline that the first entry of Phrygians to Anatolia coincides before the collapse of the Hittite Empire. Indeed, in the Trojan War which was accepted as the First War of the Straits of the World History, the Phrygians took their place as the allies of the Trojans. But as learned from Iliad which is an epic of Homer, the past of the Phrygian-Trojan alliance goes before the Trojan Wars.While some scientists argue that Phrygians participated in the Sea Peoples Migration and had a share in the collapse of the Hittite Empire, some historians suggest that the Phrygians were not included in the Sea Peoples Migration since their names are not mentioned in the Egyptian sources.According to a third view, the Phrygians set foot with the Thracian Migrations to Anatolia in the 8 th century B. C. Aside from all these, the question of whether the Mushkians in the Assyrian sources are the same people with the Phrygians occupies the agenda.In this study, we will try to give the answers of all the above mentioned questions one by one in the light of the sources.

Frig Göçlerinin Zamanı Üzerine Bazı Öneriler

Öz

Bilindiği üzere Frigler, Hitit Devleti’nin Ege Göçleri neticesinde yıkılmasından sonra, Orta Anadolu ve İç Batı Anadolu toprakları üzerinde egemen olan bir halk grubudur. Ancak şu hususun altını çizmek lazımdır ki, Frigler’in Anadolu’ya ilk girişleri Hitit Devleti’nin yıkılmasından önceye rastlar. Gerçekten, dünya tarihinin ilk “Boğazlar Savaşı” olarak kabul edilen Troya Savaşları’nda Frigler, Troyalılar’ın yanında ve onların müttefiki olarak yer almışlardır. Fakat Homeros’un İlyada adlı destanından öğrenildiğine göre, Frig-Troya ittifakının geçmişi, Troya Savaşları’ndan da önceye gitmektedir.Bazı bilim insanları, Frigler’in Ege Göçleri’ne iştirak ettiğini ve Hitit Devleti’nin yıkılmasında payları olduğunu savunurlarken, bir kısım tarihçiler de Mısır kaynaklarında adları geçmediği için, Frigler’in Ege Göçleri içerisinde yer almadığını öne sürerler. Üçüncü bir görüşe göre ise Frigler, Anadolu’ya MÖ.8. yüzyılda vuku bulan Trak Göçleri ile ayak basmışlardır. Bütün bunlar bir yana, Asur kaynaklarında geçen Muşkiler’in Frigler’le aynı kavim olup olmadıkları sorunu da gündemi meşgul etmektedir.Biz bu çalışmamızda, yukarıda bahsi geçen bütün soruların cevaplarını, kaynakların ışığında tek tek vermeye çalışacağız.
