Kentlerin, sakinlerine sağladıkları avantajlardan biri de eğlence hayatı olmuştur. Denizli’de, Cumhuriyetin ilanı ile görülen sosyal gelişme eğlence mekanlarında artışa neden olmuştur. Denizli eğlence mekanlarının başında kahvehaneler gelmiş ve bu kahvehanelere yalnız erkekler giderken, çay bahçelerine ise ailece gidilmiştir. Bütün Denizlililerin toplandığı Hıdırellez günleri sosyalleşmenin ve eğlencenin simgesi haline gelmiştir.
Denizli’de 1928’te açılan sinema ve 1930’larda başlayan tiyatro faaliyetleri Denizli halkı tarafından çok rağbet görmüştür. 1960’lara gelindiğinde sinemaya düşkünlük o denli artmıştır ki gündelik hayatın vazgeçilmezleri arasında yer almıştır. 1980’lerde küreselleşme dalgası ile eğlence mekanlarında artış yaşanırken, televizyon nedeniyle sinemaya olan ilgi giderek azalmıştır. Tiyatroya olan rağbet ise 1980’lerde dahi devam etmiştir. Günümüzde Denizlililer başta tiyatro ve sinema olmak üzere pek çok eğlenceye rağbet göstermektedirler.

Öz
One of the advantages that cities provide to their residents has been the entertainment life. The social development seen with the proclamation of the Republic in Denizli caused an increase in entertainment venues. Cafes were the leading entertainment venues in Denizli, while the man went to the cafes, the families went to the tea gardens. The days of Hıdırellez, when all the people of Denizli gathered, became the symbol of socialization and entertainment. The cinema that opened in 1928 and the theater activities that started in the 1930s in Denizli were very popular with people of Denizli. When it comes to the 1960s, the fondness for cinema increased so much that it became one of the indispensables of life. While there was an increase in entertainment venues with the globalization wave in the 1980s, the interest in cinema gradually decreased due to television. The demand for the theater also continued in the 1980s. In the present day, the people of Denizli are in demand for many entertainments, especially theater and cinema.
