Öz
In this article, the main elements of the architecture and urban development of Amir Timur’s
Samarkand, were investigated based on various sources. That majestic buildings and the construction of
urban infrastructure were analyzed. In addition, following the announcement of the independence, Uzbek
government's preservation and restoration activities for the historical monuments were examined,
remaining from Timur and Timurids period.

Bu makalede, çeşitli kaynaklara dayanarak Emir Timur dönemi Semerkand’ında mimarlık ve
kentsel gelişimin temel özellikleri incelenmiştir. Dönemin görkemli binaları ile kentsel altyapının inşa
süreçleri analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca bağımsızlığın ilanını müteakip Özbek hükümetlerinin Timur
döneminden kalma tarihî abidelerin korunması ve restorasyonlarına ilişkin faaliyetleri irdelenmiştir.
