The primary objective of this article is to examine the developmental process of university education within the scope of the Turkish American relations, which originate from commercial partnerships between the Ottoman Empire and the United States in the 18th century. These relations later evolved through trade agreements and developed a distinct dimension grounded in mutual connections, particularly in the context of university education in Turkey. So as to serve such an aim, the current article employs a review of the literature as a research method to gather the necessary data. The essential data are assessed and interpreted based on the existing body of the literature systematically. It is an undeniable fact that the Turkish American relations play a significant role in transforming the Turkish education system and, consequently, have a profound impact on university education and its conceptualization and progression. The Western European educational tradition, which has persisted in the Republic of Turkey, has transitioned into an Anglo-Saxon educational paradigm influenced by the American practices. In this regard, this article analyses the universities established in Turkey through the American connections, their founding purposes, their contributions to Turkish society, and the evolution of the Turkish American relations within the realm of education. In light of the findings derived from the research data, the study briefly touches upon the factors that have profoundly influenced the understanding of university education in Turkey, with a particular focus on the impact and transformative power of the Turkish American relations on the Turkish higher education and its development. Ultimately, the founding histories of the universities established within the context of the Turkish American relations are examined through a cause-and-effect perspective.
