INVESTIGATION OF PRE-SCHOOL TEACHERS' LEVELS OF INTERNET AND SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTION BEFORE AND DURING THE COVID-19 EPISODE
Abstract
In this study, which was carried out in the form of quantitative research, the data were face-to-face before the epidemic; In the epidemic period, it was collected through online scales. The sample of the research consists of 341 pre-school teachers working in kindergartens and primary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the central districts of Adana (Seyhan, Yüreğir, Çukurova, Sarıçam). In the study, data on teachers' internet addiction were obtained with the Internet Addiction Scale developed by Hahn and Jerusalem (2001) and adapted into Turkish by Şahin and Korkmaz (2011). The Social Media Addiction Scale developed by Şahin (2018) was used to determine the social media addiction levels of teachers. As a result of the research, it was found that teachers' internet and social media addictions increased with the epidemic process; It has been determined that there is a statistically significant difference between internet and social media addiction scores according to the variables of marital status and time spent on the internet, but there is no difference according to the variables of internet access location, class size and gender.
