DEPRESYONLU BİREYLERDE KURKUMİN KULLANIMI

Depresyon ruhsal sağlığı etkileyen ve toplum sağlığını tehdit eden sorunlarından biridir. COVİD- 19 ile depresyon vakalarında artış bildirilmektedir. Depresyonlu bireylerin tedavisinde yer alan ilaçlardan bu bireyler yan etkileri (ağız kuruluğu, baş dönmesi, cinsel işlevlerde azalma vb) sebebiyle kullanımından kaçınabilmektedir. Bu durum depresyonlu bireylerin tedavisinde yer alan ilaç ve psikoterapiye ek tedavi araştırmalarına yol açmıştır. Bu ek tedavilerde alternatif tıbbi ürünlerinin kullanımı da son zamanlarda kılavuzlarda yer almaya başlamıştır. Curcuma Longa bitkisinden elde edilen zerdeçalın bir biyoaktif bileşeni olan kurkumin depresyonlu bireylerde farmakolojik tedaviden bağımsız olarak tedavi edici etkilerinin olduğu tartışılmaktadır. Oral yolla alınan zerdeçaldaki kurkumin miktarı ve biyoyararlanımı düşüktür. Kurkuminin etkinliğinde artış sağlayan biyoaktif birleşenler ile tüketimi biyoyararlanımı desteklemektedir. Bu derleme depresyona sahip bireylerde kurkuminin etkilerini inceleyen güncel makalelerden derlenerek depresyonlu bireylerde kurkumin takviyesini incelemektedir.
