Kültürel Mirası Yorumlamada Turist Rehberlerinin Sembol Kullanımı

Öz

Bu araştırmanın amacı, turist rehberlerinin kültürel miras alanlarındaki sembolleri anlatımlarında nasıl kullandıklarını, bu anlatımların mesleki farkındalık, turist deneyimi ve rehber eğitimi üzerindeki etkilerini incelemek ve sembollerin turist rehberliği eğitimi müfredatına entegrasyonu konusundaki görüşlerini belirlemektir. Turist rehberleri, anlatımlarında sembolleri kültürel mirasın anlaşılmasını kolaylaştıran araçlara dönüştürmektedir. Bu araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi benimsenmiş, Ankara ve Eskişehir gibi turizmin yoğun olduğu şehirlerde görev yapan 17 eylemli turist rehberiyle yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler dikkatlice okunmuş daha sonra betimsel analiz ve içerik analiz gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada (1) Yorumlamada Sembol Kullanımı, (2) Mesleki Farklılaşma, (3) Turist Tepkileri ve Deneyimi ile (4) Sembollerin Turist Rehberliği Eğitiminde Kullanılması olmak üzere dört ana tema belirlenmiştir. Bulgular, sembollerin turist rehberlerinin anlatılarını zenginleştirdiğini, turistlerin ilgisini artırdığını ve mesleki farklılaşmaya katkı sağladığını ortaya koymuştur. Ayrıca katılımcılar, sembollerin turist rehberliği eğitim müfredatına dahil edilmesi gerektiğini de vurgulamışlardır. Bu çalışmanın, kültürel mirasın yorumlanması ve sürdürülebilir turizm bağlamında sembol kullanımına ilişkin önemli bir katkı sunduğu düşünülmektedir.

The Use of Symbols in the Interpretation of Cultural Heritage by Tour Guides

Öz

This study aimed to examine how tour guides utilize cultural symbols in their narratives, the effects of these narratives on professional awareness, tourist experience, and guiding training, and to determine their views on integrating symbols into the guide training curriculum. In their narratives, tour guides transform symbols into tools that facilitate the understanding of cultural heritage. A qualitative method was adopted in the research, and interviews were conducted with 17 tour guides working in Ankara and Eskişehir regions. As a result of descriptive analysis and content analysis, four main themes were identified: the use of Symbols in Interpretation, Professional Differentiation, Tourist Reactions and Experiences, and The Use of Symbols in Tour Guiding Education. The findings revealed that symbols enriched tour guides' narratives, increased tourists' interest, and contributed to the professional differentiation of tour guides. In addition, the participants emphasized that symbols should be included in the guidance education curriculum. This study is considered to make an essential contribution to the interpretation of cultural heritage and the use of symbols in the context of sustainable tourism.
