Soil is one of the most important natural resources. The conservation and proper use of the soil is necessary for the protection of this resource. However, improper use of lands increases land degradation. Therefore, land degradation with human influence is becoming a serious problem in our country. Soil crust formation is also an important factor of soil degradation. By preventing infiltration, it causes accumulate of water on the surface or runoff. The aim of this study is to examine crust formation trends in neighboring micro hydrological basins with semi-arid climate. The field has an area of approximately 1122 km2. Total 64 soil samples were taken from the study area and sand, clay and silt, organic matter, volume weight, lime, pH, EC and nitrogen analyzes were made in the samples taken. According to the obtained results, the formation of the crust was calculated with the formula given by Pieri (1989) and the distribution of the crust formation index values was generated by selecting the appropriate interpolation method with geographic information systems. Areas where crust formation is high risk have been usually used under intensive agricultural activities.
