Corpus Coranicum projesi: Kur’an’ı Geç Antik döneme ait bir metin olarak okumak

Öz

felsefe, matematik ve astronomi konusundaki kitabiyata yönelmiş olduğunu söyleyebiliriz. Tefsir, hadis, fıkıh ve kelam gibi İslami ilimlere ve Arapça edebiyata ilgi ise daha geç döneme rastlamaktadır.2 Rudi Paret oryantalist İslam çalışmalarını 12. yüzyılda Kur’an’ın Latince’ye tercüme edilmesiyle başlatmaktadır.3 14. yüzyılda Hıristiyanlar arasında sadece Ramon Lull (ö.1315 veya 1316) Arapça çalışıp İslamî metinleri incelemiştir.4 16. ve özellikle 17. yüzyılda daha sonraları oryantalist olarak adlandırılacak olan ilim adamları yoğun bir şekilde Arapça çalışmaya başlamışlardır. Avrupa’nın İslam ve Müslümanlara olan ilgisi ve özellikle Protestan reformistlerin Eski Ahit’in anlamını keşfetmek için Kitab-ı Mukaddes’in orijinal dili olan İbraniceye önem vermeleri, bu dille ilişkili olan Aramice, Süryanice ve Arapça gibi diğer Sami dillerini de öğrenme faaliyetlerini hızlandırmıştır.5 Aynı dönemde (16. ve 17. yüzyıllarda) öncü Avrupa üniversitelerinde Arapça kürsüleri kurulmuş ve karşılaştırmalı dinler çalışmaları başlamıştır.6 noktalarından biri 1795 yılında Paris’te tamamen doğu dilleri üzerine çalışma yapan École spéciale des langues orientales vivantes’in kurulmasıdır.7 Bu okulun ikinci müdürü Antoine-Isaac Silvestre de Sacy edilmektedir. Bu dönemde İslam medeniyetinin ve dillerinin öğretilmesi üzerine özel bir müfredat hazırlanmıştır. En önemli gelişmelerden biri de Latince yazılmış Arapça gramer kitabının yerini Silvestre de Sacy tarafından yazılan Grammaire Arabe (1810) isimli Fransızca kitabın almasıdır.8 Silvestre de Sacy Alman oryantalizmiaçısından önemli bir isimdir.
