Öz

Park ve bahçeler, doğal ve kültürel bitkilerin yetiştirildiği, insanların dinlenme ve eğlenme ihtiyaçlarını karşılayan, çeşitli fonksiyonları barındıran özel alanlardır. Kapalı bahçeler, doğal unsurların korunması ve çevrelenmesi ile oluşturulan; mimari, peyzaj ve sanat unsurlarının bir arada değerlendirildiği yapılardır. Orta çağ kapalı bahçeleri olan Hortus Conclusus, kendine özgü bir ekosistem oluşturarak tarihi çevre içerisinde hem mekânsal hem de metaforik anlamlar taşımaktadır.
Çalışmada kapalı bahçeler, yapısal elemanları, tipolojileri ve Zumthor (2011)'un Hortus Conclusus yapısı incelenmiş, günümüz kamusal açık alanlar (kentsel alan, park, bahçeler) ile karşılaştırılarak aralarındaki ilişkiler ortaya konularak öneriler getirilmiştir.

Secret Sanctuary of the Middle Ages Hortus Conclusus - Enlosed Gardens

Öz

Parks and gardens are special areas where natural and cultural plants are cultivated, meet the recreational and entertainment needs of people and accommodate various functions. Enclosed gardens are created by protecting and surrounding natural elements; this stuructures where architectural, landscape and art elements are evaluated together. Hortus Conclusus, the medieval enclosed gardens, carry both spatial and metaphorical meanings within the historical environment by creating a unique ecosystem.
In the study, enclosed gardens, their structural elements, typologies and Zumthor (2011)'s Hortus Conclusus structure were analyzed, compared with todays public open spaces (urban space, parks, gardens) and the relationships between them were revealed and suggestions were made.
