Objective: The present study was conducted with the objective of ascertaining the level of knowledge, attitudes and practices of pregnant women who were under the supervision of primary health care centres in DhiQar, Iraq. Method: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 150 pregnant women who applied to five different primary health care centres in DhiQar between 12 November 2022 and 12 January 2023. The personal information form and antenatal care scale were utilised as data collection tools. The independent t-test was employed for the purpose of conducting group comparisons of continuous variables that conformed to a normal distribution, whilst the Mann-Whitney U test was utilised for variables that did not conform to a normal distribution. The Kruskal-Wallis test was employed to compare the data from more than two groups, and post hoc Bonferroni analysis was conducted in the event of a significant result. The statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05. Results: A study was conducted to ascertain the relationship between prenatal care scale scores of pregnant women and their sociodemographic characteristics. The analysis revealed that occupational status, educational level and age at marriage were significantly associated with scale score (p <0.05). On the other hand, age, income status, place of residence and number of pregnancies did not have a significant effect on the scale score (p>0.05). The scale scores indicated that the knowledge and practice levels of pregnant women were moderate, and their attitudes towards antenatal care were positive. Conclusion: Pregnancy is a significant process for expectant mothers from both physiological and psychosocial perspectives. It is imperative that this process is managed in a healthy manner to ensure the optimal health of both the mother and the infant. It is recommended that knowledge, attitudes and practice levels regarding prenatal care should be supported by multicentre studies in different populations.
