Metaforun Gücü: Psikolojik Danışma Süpervizyonunda Psikolojik Danışman Adaylarının Deneyimleri

Öz

Dünyada ve Türkiye’de psikolojik danışma hizmetlerini yürüten önemli meslek gruplarından birisi psikolojik danışmanlardır. Psikolojik danışman becerilerini kazanabilmek için Bireyle Psikolojik Danışma Uygulamaları dersi önemli bir yere sahiptir. Psikolojik danışman adayları süpervizyon altında psikolojik danışma hizmeti sunarak becerilerini geliştirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Süpervizyon sürecinde psikolojik danışman adaylarının gelişimine çeşitli yönlerden yardımcı olmak amacıyla metaforlar bir teknik olarak kullanılabilir. Bu çalışmada Bireyle Psikolojik Danışma Uygulaması 1 dersinde yürütülen ve süpervizyon sürecinde kullanılan, psikolojik danışmanın beş aşamasını kapsayan metaforlara ilişkin psikolojik danışman adaylarının görüşlerinin ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma nitel araştırma paradigmasına uygun olarak tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmaya, yaşları 21 ile 22 (Ortalama yaş = 21.75, Ss = .46) arasında değişen, altısı kadın ve ikisi erkek olmak üzere toplam sekiz katılımcı dahil edilmiştir. Katılımcılarla yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri MAXQDA programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulguları metafor kullanımının altı tema altında görüldüğünü ortaya koymuştur: metaforun tanımlanması ve işlevi, psikolojik danışman adayına katkıları, danışana katkıları, psikolojik danışma sürecine katkıları, süpervizyon sürecine katkıları ve zorluklar/engeller. Psikolojik danışman adaylarının süpervizyon eğitiminde metafor kullanımının potansiyel değerini ortaya koyan bu araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlardan yola çıkılarak birtakım öneriler geliştirilmiştir.

The Power of Metaphor: Experiences of Psychological Counselor Candidates in Counseling Supervision

Psychological counselors are one of the important professional groups providing psychological counseling services in the world and Türkiye. To gain psychological counselor competencies, the Psychological Counseling Practices with Individuals course has a key importance. Psychological counselor candidates aim to improve their competencies by providing psychological counseling services under supervision. In supervision, metaphors can be a useful technique to help the development of psychological counselor candidates in various aspects. In this study, this study aims to explore the views of psychological counselor candidates on the metaphors covering the five stages of counseling, which are used in the supervision process carried out in the Psychological Counseling Practice with Individuals 1 course. The research was designed by the qualitative research paradigm. A total of eight participants, six females and two males, aged between 21 and 22 (Mage = 21.75, SD = .46) were included in the study. Semi-structured interviews were completed with the participants. The data were analyzed with MAXQDA software. The research findings showed that the metaphor consisted of six themes: definition and function of the metaphor, contributions to the psychological counselor candidate, contributions to the client, contributions to the counseling process, contributions to the supervision process, and challenges/barriers. Based on the results obtained in this study, which reveals the potential value of the use of metaphor in the supervision training of psychological counselor candidates, some suggestions were developed.
