Frenk İncirlerinde Dactylopius opuntiae (Hemiptera: Dactylopidae) Sorunu ve Çözüm Önerileri

Öz

Meyve ve yaprakları besin olarak kullanılan Opuntia ficus-indica Miller (Caryophyllales; Cactaceae), tıbbi tedavi, erozyon önleme, toprakların iyileştirilmesi ve süs bitkisi olarak faydalanılan bir kaktüs türü olmasına rağmen bazı ülkelerin ekosistemine zarar veren işgalci bitkiler arasında bulunmaktadır. Bu nedenle Latin Amerika’dan Dactylopius opuntiae ithal edilerek, kaktüslerin biyolojik mücadelesinde başarıyla kullanılmıştır. Ancak Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti de dahil olmak üzere Akdeniz havzasına hızla yayılarak kaktüslerde önemli zararlara sebep olmuştur. Bu çalışmada iklim değişikliği nedeniyle gelecekte önemli tarımsal ürünler arasında yer alacak olan bu kaktüsün ana zararlısı olan D.opuntiae’nin Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nde yayılışı, zararı ve yürütülen mücadele hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir.

Issues for Dactylopius opuntiae (Hemiptera: Dactylopidae) on Prickly Pears and Proposed Solutions

Öz

Opuntia ficus-indica Miller (Caryophyllales; Cactaceae), whose fruits and leaves are consumed as food, is a cactus species also utilized for medicinal treatments, erosion prevention, the rehabilitation of degraded soils, and as an ornamental plant. However, despite these uses, it is classified among invasive species that harm the ecosystems of certain countries. Therefore, Dactylopius opuntiae was imported from Latin America and successfully employed for the biological control of these cacti. Nevertheless, it has rapidly spread across the Mediterranean region, including the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, causing significant damage to cacti. This paper provides information on the spread, damage, and ongoing control efforts concerning D.opuntiae, the primary pest of this cactus, which is expected to become an important agricultural product in the future due to climate change.
