The Production Potential and Foreign Trade of Flower Bulbs in the World and Turkey

Ornamental plants sector has an important position in plant production and creates high added value. The wide export and import potential of this sector increases its importance at global level. These plants, which have important secondary metabolite content, are in high demand both in local and international markets, especially in cut flower cultivation. World flower bulb production is concentrated especially in the Netherlands, India, China, Italy, Germany and South America. The Netherlands is the leader in global flower bulb production and exports, holding more than 70 per cent of the world market. This success is based on advanced greenhouse technologies, high quality production and effective marketing strategies. In order for Turkey to fully utilize its flower bulb production potential, it is necessary to strengthen the technological infrastructure, raise awareness of producers, give more importance to R&D studies and increase government support. In addition, the dissemination of sustainable agricultural practices will provide both environmental and economic benefits. Therefore, the production and trade of flower bulbs should be managed in a balanced manner both economically and environmentally. In this context, in this study, the production potential and export potential of ‘Lily, Gladiolus, Tulip, Daffodil, Freesia, Hyacinth, Anemone, Peruvian Lily, Starflower, Calla Lily, Iris and Ranunculus species among the flower bulbs and their export potential are analyzed.

Dünya ve Türkiye’nin Çiçek Soğanları Üretim Potansiyeli ve Dış Ticareti

Öz

Süs bitkileri sektörü, bitkisel üretim içerisinde önemli bir konuma sahip ve yüksek katma değer oluşturan bir alandır. Bu sektörün geniş ihracat ve ithalat potansiyeli, küresel düzeydeki önemini giderek artırmaktadır. Kesme çiçek yetiştiriciliği başta olmak üzere tıbbi anlamda da önemli sekonder metabolit içeriğine sahip bu bitkiler hem yerel hem de uluslararası pazarlarda oldukça fazla talep görmektedir. Dünya çiçek soğanları üretimi, özellikle Hollanda, Hindistan, Çin, İtalya, Almanya ve Güney Amerika’da yoğunlaşmıştır. Hollanda, global çiçek soğanı üretiminde ve ihracatında lider konumda olup, dünya pazarının %70’inden fazlasını elinde bulundurmaktadır. Bu başarı, gelişmiş seracılık teknolojileri, yüksek kaliteli üretim ve etkili pazarlama stratejilerine dayanmaktadır. Türkiye’nin çiçek soğanları üretim potansiyelini tam anlamıyla değerlendirebilmesi için ise, teknolojik altyapının güçlendirilmesi, üreticilerin bilinçlendirilmesi, Ar-Ge çalışmalarına daha fazla önem verilmesi ve devlet desteklerinin artırılması gerekmektedir. Ayrıca, sürdürülebilir tarım uygulamalarının yaygınlaştırılması hem çevresel hem de ekonomik açıdan fayda sağlayacaktır. Bu nedenle, çiçek soğanlarının üretimi ve ticareti hem ekonomik hem de çevresel açıdan dengeli bir şekilde yönetilmelidir. Bu bağlamda çalışmada, çiçek soğanları içerisinde yer alan ‘Lilium spp., Gladiolus grandiflorus, Tulipa spp., Narcissus tazetta, Freesia spp., Hyacinthus orientalis, Anemone coronaria, Alstroemeria aurea, Ornithogalum umbellatum, Zantedeschia aethiopica, Iris purpureobractea, Ranunculus acris’ türlerinin üretim potansiyeli ve dış ticaret durumları değerlendirilmiştir.
