The Effects of Different Planting Time and Planting Depth on Some Plant Development Characteristics of Hyacinth (Hyacinth orientalis L.)

This research was carried out in between the years of 2013-2014, to determine the optimal planting time and planting depth on Hyacinth bulbs for Hyacinth (Hyacinth orientalis L) cultivation in Çanakkale conditions, in unheated glasshouse of Agriculture Faculty, located in Dardanos Campus of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. In the study, bulbs of 'Pink Pearl' cultivar belongs to the genus of Hyacinth (Hyacinth orientalis L.) were used as a plant material. Hyacinth bulbs were planted in containers at four different periods (September 13, October 16, November 12, December 10) and in three different planting depths (deep, normal and tangential). In the study, it was determined that planting time was affected the emergence of plant, flowering period and height of plant, but not affected leaf length, has also been found increasing flower stem length which depends on the planting depth. In terms for Hyacinth cultivation, 16 October and 12 November have been identified as the most suitable time for planting in Çanakkale conditions.

Sümbül (Hyacinth orientalis L.) Soğanlarında Farklı Dikim Zamanı ve Dikim Derinliğinin Bazı Bitki Gelişim Özellikleri Üzerine Etkileri

Öz

Bu araştırma, Çanakkale koşullarında Sümbül (Hyacinth orientalis L.) yetiştiriciliğinde soğanların en uygun dikim zamanı ve dikim derinliğinin tespit edilmesi amacıyla, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesinin Dardanos Yerleşkesinde bulunan, Ziraat Fakültesinin ısıtmasız cam serasında, 2013-2014 yılları arasında yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada bitkisel materyal olarak sümbül (Hyacinth orientalis L.) cinsine ait ‘Pink pearl’ çeşidinin soğanları kullanılmıştır. Sümbül soğanlarının konteynırlara dikimi dört farklı dönemde (13 Eylül, 16 Ekim, 12 Kasım, 10 Aralık) ve üç ayrı dikim derinliğinde (derin, normal ve yüzeysel) gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada dikim zamanlarının bitki çıkış süresi, çiçeklenme periyodu ve bitki boyu üzerinde etkili olduğu, yaprak boyu üzerinde ise etkili olmadığı saptanmış, ayrıca çiçek sapı uzunluklarının dikim derinliğine bağlı olarak artış gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Çanakkale koşullarında sümbül yetiştiriciliği bakımından, 16 Ekim ve 12 Kasım tarihleri en uygun dikim zamanı olarak belirlenmiştir.
