Bipolar Bozukluğu Olan Bireyler ve Bakım Verenlerin Psikoeğitim Gereksinimleri ve Yaşam Kalitelerinin İncelenmesi

Öz

Giriş: Bipolar bozuklukta psikoeğitimin yaşam kalitesini iyileştirdiği bilinmektedir ancak, psikoeğitim içeriğinin bireylerin ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda olması önemlidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, bipolar bozukluğu olan bireyler ve bakım verenlerinde psikoeğitim gereksinimleri ile yaşam kalitesini ve bu değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Yöntem: Kesitsel nitelikteki bu araştırma, 149 bipolar bozukluğu olan birey ve 120 bakım veren ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri “Bipolar Bozukluğu Olan Bireyleri Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu”, “Bakım Verenleri Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu”, “Psikoeğitim Gereksinimlerini Değerlendirme Formu” ve “Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği Kısa Formu” ile toplanmıştır. Bulgular: Bipolar bozukluğu olan bireylerin enerji, iştah, uyku ve cinsel sorunlarla başa çıkma konusunda en çok psikoeğitime ihtiyaç duydukları belirlenmiştir. Bakım verenlerin en çok psikoeğitime ihtiyaç duydukları konuların bipolar bozukluğun nedenleri, diğer tedavi yöntemleri, erken uyarı belirtileri ve yasal haklar olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bipolar bozukluğu olan bireylerin, bakım verenlerin psiko-eğitim ihtiyaçları ile yaşam kalitesi arasında anlamlı bir negatif korelasyon bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Bipolar bozukluğu olan bireyler ve bakım verenleri için gereksinimlere dayalı psikoeğitim programlarının yaşam kalitesini artırmada önemli bir rol oynadığını göstermektedir.

Psychoeducation Needs and Quality of Life in Individuals with Bipolar Disorder and Caregivers

Öz

Introduction: Although psychoeducation is known to improve quality of life in bipolar disorder, it is important that the content of psychoeducation is tailored to individuals’ needs. The aim of this study is to assess psychoeducation needs and quality of life among individuals with bipolar disorder and their caregivers, examine the relationship between these variables, and identify associated factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 149 individuals with bipolar disorder and 120 caregivers. The data of the study was collected by the "Information Form of Individuals with Bipolar Disorder", "Caregivers’ Information Form", "Psychoeducation Needs Assessment Form", "Quality of Life Assessment”. Results: It was determined that individuals with bipolar disorder needed psychoeducation most in terms of coping with energy, appetite, sleep and sexual problems. It was determined that the topics that caregivers needed psychoeducation the most were the causes of bipolar disorder, other treatment methods, early warning symptoms and legal rights. A significant negative correlation was found between the psychoeducation needs of both individuals with bipolar disorder, caregivers and quality of life. Conclusion: The findings suggest that needs-based psychoeducation programs may play an important role in improving the quality of life of individuals with bipolar disorder and their caregivers.
