Öz

Tarihi kentlerde sürdürülebilirlik, fiziksel ve sosyo-kültürel korumanın yanı sıra kent estetiğinin sağlanması ile

gerçekleştirilebilir. Kentsel planlama ve tasarım, insanın fiziksel sağlığı; kent estetiği ise, ruhsal sağlığı üzerinde

etkili olmaktadır. Genel olarak kentsel alanlarda estetik, güzellik ve güzelliğin insan duygularındaki yansımaları

olarak ifade edilmektedir. Bununla birlikte, estetik algısı kullanıcı özelliklerine göre de değişim göstermektedir.

Bu çalışmanın kapsamında Tarihî Kentler Birliği’ne üye olan Bartın Kenti’nin kent estetiği açısından

incelenmesi, kent estetiği konusunda yerel yönetimin etkinliğinin artırılması ve kentin yaşam kalitesinin

yükseltilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Araştırma alanı olarak, Bartın Kent Merkezindeki yaya bölgesi seçilmiştir.

Çalışma; literatür taraması, anket çalışması, alan analizi, ilgili aktörlerle görüşme, verilerin analizi ve

değerlendirilmesi, sonuç ve önerilerin geliştirilmesi olmak üzere altı aşamada gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu süreç

sonunda çalışmaya ilişkin sonuçlar ortaya konmuş; Bartın’daki yaşam kalitesini artırmaya yönelik fiziksel

öneriler geliştirilmiş, bu kapsamda Belediye bünyesinde Tarihî Kentlerde “Kent Estetiği Birimi” önerilmiştir.

Care of City Aesthetics in Historical Towns: Case of Bartin

Öz

Sustainability in the historical towns can be realized to obtain the physical and socio-cultural conservation and

additionally city aesthetics. While the urban planning and design effects on the physical health of human, the city

aesthetic effects on the human’s mental health. The aesthetic in urban areas generally is defined the beauty and

the reflections of the beauty on the emotions of human. In addition to these, it’s also changeable according to the

characteristics of the users.

In the context of this research, it has been aimed to investigate Bartın City that is a member of Union of

Historical Towns according to the city aesthetics, to increase the efficiency of municipality, to improve the

quality of life the city has. The pedestrian area on the center of Bartın has been selected as a case area. The study

has been carried out six steps as follows: to search literature, to apply questionnaires, to analyze area, to

interview with related actors, data analysis and evaluation, conclusion and recommendations. In the study, the

conclusions related to the study have been shown; the recommendations about the increasing life qualities in

Bartın are developed. In this scope, “the Unit of City Aesthetic” in historical towns in the organization of

municipality has been recommended.
