Öz
Son 50 yılda süt ineklerinde inek başına düşen süt veriminin artmasıyla birlikte fertilite oranında ciddi şekilde azalmalar görülmüştür. Araştırmacıların uğraştıkları en büyük zorluklardan biri, yüksek süt veriminin fertilite düşüklüğüne neden olan temel biyolojisinin anlaşılması ve fertilitenin arttırılması için stratejilerin geliştirilmesidir. Fertilite çok faktörlü bir özellik olup genetik, çevresel ve yönetimsel faktörler ve bu faktörlerin karmaşık etkileşimleri fertilitedeki düşüşün kesin nedenini belirlemeyi zorlaştırmıştır. Buna rağmen, araştırmacılar süt ineğinin ömrü boyunca reprodüktif performansını olumsuz yönde etkileyen temel nedenleri belirlemiştir. Bu derlemede, yüksek verimli süt ineklerinde fertilite düşüklüğünün başlıca sebepleri ele alınmıştır.
