Some Opinions About the Center of Dominance on Steppe

This article is an attempt to search for the political center of Turkic dynasties in the steppes. Geographical location and accessibility of a region are important factors of becoming the political center. There are also other factors such as the region’s location on the trade routes and the effects of the historical developments. In fact, all these factors contribute the emergence of a political center both in sedentary societies and in nomadic powers. There are a plenty of historical sources on sedentary societies, so defining the political centers of these societies is easier. However, because of the mobile life style of the steppes and because of the scantiness of the historical sources on the region, it is not so easy to define the main center of the steppes. The main center of the steppe powers and mainly of the Turkic powers is discussed in this article

Öz

Dünya üzerinde belli coğrafyalarda belli bölgeler, bulundukları konum itibarıyla birer siyasi, ekonomik ve kültürel merkez olarak ön plana çıkmışlardır. Bugüne kadar çeşitli araştırmacılar, kaynakların daha çok olduğu yerleşik hâkimiyetlerin merkezlerini net olarak ortaya koymuştur. Kaynakların azlığından dolayı üzerinde daha az durulan bozkırda da tarihî süreçte yine böyle bir ağırlık merkezinin ortaya çıktığı görülmektedir. Bir bölgenin coğrafi konumu, ulaşılabilirliği, nüfus barındırabilme özelliği ve ticaret yolları üzerinde olması, orayı içinde bulunduğu daha geniş bir alanın merkezi hâline getirebilir. Makalede Türklerin bozkırda güçlü bir hâkimiyet kurdukları zaman kendilerine seçtikleri merkezin neresi veya nereler olabileceği tartışılmaktadır
