Ali Nazima wrote many books on Turkish, concerning the grammar rules of the
language. Among those who wrote similar books are Ahmet Cevdet Pasa. Mehmet
Fuat Pasa, Abdullah Ramiz Pasa, Abdurrahman Fevzi Efendi and Ali Nazima.Ali Nazima studied Turkish Grammar. One of those is Muhtasar Sarf-i Osmani
(1888) which was prepared to be followed in Primary Schools. The book was revised
in 1892 and published and renamed as Muhtasar Kavaid-i Osmaniyye.
These two books mentioned above were intended to teach Turkish grammar simply
and shortly to students in primary schools opened then.
Since the Turkish Grammar books written in that period aimed to study the structure
of Ottoman Turkish, they were mainly concerned with the Arabic and Persian
rules and studied the problems caused by Arabic scripts.
Ali Nazima published the books called Muhtasar-i Sarf-i Osmani (1888) and
Muhtasar Kavaid-i Osmaniyye (1892). He had also published the books called
Muhtasar Lisan-i Osman-i and Lisani Osman-i.
In this study, we also examined the language features, expressions and vocabulary
as well as the texts in those books.
