Even in the books and studies written by various scholars in the field of history,
there is a mention of poems either personally written or translated by Mustafa Kemal
Atatürk. One of these is a poem titled “The Grave of a Soldier”, which, according
to some, was translated from French, and to some, from English. The translator is a
Mustafa Kemal. However, he is not Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Secondly, there are two other poems which are claimed to have been written by
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk himself and has been published over and over again. One of them is titled “The Red Traces” and the other is titled “For the Beshike Event” These
two poems were also written by a Mustafa Kemal but not Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
The present study takes up the original poems and translation of poems which
have been attributed to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, studies them and puts forward evidence
showing why they cannot belong to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. It also studies the
interest Mustafa Kemal Atatürk showed in poetry, after he was a young man.
