Fizyoterapi ve Rehabilitasyon Bölümü Öğrencilerinin Çalışma Alanı Tercihleri Üzerine Yaz Stajlarının Etkisi

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı fizyoterapi ve rehabilitasyon bölümü öğrencilerinin mesleki çalışma alan tercihleri yaz stajlarının etkisinin belirlenmesi amacı ile gerçekleştirildi. Bu kesitsel çalışmaya ilk defa yüz yüze yaz stajını yapacak olan toplam 72 (39.78%) öğrenci dahil edildi. Araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan veri kayıt formu yüz yüze görüşme tekniği ile uygulandı (sosyodemografik veriler-9 soru, staj hakkında temel bilgiler 5 soru ve mesleki çalışma alanı tercihleri-4 soru). Öğrencilerin yaz stajı öncesinde ve sonrasında en sık çalışmayı planladıkları alanların sporda fizyoterapi (%29.60-21.20) ve ortopedik hastalıklarda fizyoterapi (%11.30-22.90) alanları olduğu, diğer taraftan nöroloji alanında çalışmayı planlayanların ise sayısının staj sonrasında %8.70’den %14.40’a artış gösterdiği görüldü. Staj sırasında alınan vakaların (%29.20) ve süpervizörlerinin mentörlüğünün (%25.00) mesleki alan tercihlerini olumlu yönde etkilediğini belirtmekte idiler. Sonuçlarımız klinik yaz stajları sırasında takip edilen vaka ve klinik süpervizör mentörlüğünün kariyer planlama sürecinde öğrencilerin mesleki alan tercihlerinin çeşitliliğini artırmadaki önemini göstermektedir.

The Effect of Summer Practice on the Specialty Preferences of Students of the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department

Öz

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of summer internships on the vocational field of study preferences of physiotherapy and rehabilitation students. In this cross-sectional study, a total of 72 (39.78%) students who would do their first face-to-face summer internship were included. The data recording form prepared by the researchers was applied by face-to-face interview technique (sociodemographic data-9 questions, basic information about internship-5 questions, and preferences for professional field of study-4 questions). It was seen that the most common fields in which students planned to work before and after the summer internship were physiotherapy in sports (29.60%-21.20%) and physiotherapy in orthopedic diseases (11.30%-22.90%), while the number of those who planned to work in neurology increased from 8.70% to 14.40% after the internship. They stated that the cases taken during the internship (29.20%) and the mentorship of their supervisors (25.00%) positively affected their professional field preferences. Our results show the importance of case and clinical supervisor mentoring during clinical summer internships in increasing the diversity of students' professional field preferences in the career planning process.
