This study was carried out in trial orchard built with, apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.), peach [P. persica (L.) Batsch], plum (P. domestica L.), Japanese plum (P. salicina Lindl.) and sweet cherry (P. avium L.) species for determining harmful of Sphenoptera (Tropeopeltis) tappesi Marseul, 1865 (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) larvae on different fruit trees and their different parts in Diyarbakir province between 2007 and 2008. The contaminated and infected trees were brougth from orchard to the laboratory in October and November 2007. The samples taken to the laboratory were separated into root, trunk, the main branch and the side branch, and kept in the plastic containers. Studies were carried out at26±1 C with %65±5 RH and 16L:8D photoperiod to conditions. While S. tappesi larvae for feeding on trunk, main branch and side branch of apricot, peach and plum trees, the larvae preferred only trunk of cherry. General average of the pest was determined with the highest number on stem as 2.29 individuals/tree. S. tappesi larvae selected for feeding maximum on Santarosa variety (plum) and obtained as 15.00 individuals/tree. After Santarosa variety, second sensitive variety was Can (plum) variety obtained as 13.33 individuals/tree. Minimum density of the pest was determined on 0900-Ziraat (Cherry) variety, as 1.75 individuals/tree. Maximum adult number was determined on trunk of Santarosa variety as 13.40 individuals, on main branch of Can variety, as 7.83 individuals/tree and on side branch of Can variety like main branch as 2.83 individuals/tree. Generally, it was determined that this pest for feeding maximum on plum and peach and minimum on cherry and apricot. Statistically significant differences between varieties were found.
