Correction of Insufficient Interocclusal Space without Bone Removing

Öz

It is essential to have a sufficient interocclusal space in order to make removable or fixed prosthesis.

In cases of posterior teeth extractions, in which the toothless area left untreated for a long time, the elongation of the opposing teeth causes some changes both in the hard or soft tissues and this restricts the prosthetic treatment for the patient.

Elongated and curved teeth are mostly modified with simple etching, but prosthetic, orthodontic treatment, tooth extraction or surgical interventions may be needed in severe cases. It should be considered that increased connective tissue may be the reason for the insufficient interocclusal distance in some of the cases. In this case report we represented a case, in which the removal of the soft tissue alone resulted with a sufficient interocclusal space and prevented the unnecessary bone removal and its potential complications.

Yetersiz İnteroklüzal Mesafenin Kemik Kaldırılmaksızın Düzeltilmesi

Öz

Hareketli veya sabit herhangi bir protez yapılabilmesi için interoklüzal mesafenin yeterli olması gerekmektedir. Posterior dişlerin çekildiği ve dişsiz sahanın uzun süre tedavi edilmediği durumlarda karşıt arktaki dişlerin uzaması ile dişsiz sahada oluşan sert veya yumuşak dokudaki değişiklik daha sonra yapılacak olan protetik tedavileri kısıtlamaktadır.

Uzamış ve eğimli dişler basit aşındırmalarla modifiye edilmekte, daha ciddi vakalarda ise protetik, ortodontik tedavi, diş çekimleri veya cerrahi müdahaleler endike olabilmektedir. Bazı durumlarda artmış bağ dokusunun da interoklüzal mesafedeki yetersizliğe neden olabileceği göz önüne alınmalıdır. Bu olgu sunumunda yumuşak doku kaldırılarak yeterli interoklüzal mesafenin sağlanması ile gereksiz olarak kemik kaldırılmasının ve kemiğe ait oluşabilecek komplikasyonların önüne geçilmesi amaçlandı.
