Pericoronitis Caused by Distomolar Teeth: A Case Report

Distomolar teeth are placed at the distal of the third molar teeth. These teeth are also called as supernumerary teeth. Generally, they do not develop completely. Distomolar teeth are mostly found as embedded and they are diagnosed by radiographic examination. They cause different pathologies at neighbor teeth. One of them is pericoronitis. Pericoronitis is a type of gingivitis which is seen around the molar teeth. Pericoronitis can be diagnosed at every age, and it is one important reason of acute diseases. This case report aims to emphasize the clinical findings and the treatment of pericoronitis which is caused by mandibular distomolar tooth.
