Aim: This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the prevalence of obesity among married women, to examine selected sociodemographic and behavioral risk factors associated with obesity, and to evaluate the relationship between obesity and sexual quality of life.
Material and Methods: This study was conducted online between March 1 and December 1, 2023, with a sample of 534 married women. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire developed based on the literature and the Sexual Quality of Life Scale. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to assess the normality of data distribution. Chi-square test, Mann-Whitney U test, and logistic regression analysis were used for statistical analysis.
Results: The prevalence of obesity among participants was 12.2% (n = 65). Obesity prevalence increased with age, and women aged 29 years and younger had a significantly lower prevalence compared to older age groups. Sexual Quality of Life Scale scores ranged from 0 to 91.11, with a mean score of 22.46 ± 22.52 and a median of 13.33.
Conclusion: Obese women were found to have higher sexual quality of life scores compared to non-obese women. The findings suggest that the relationship between obesity and sexual quality of life may be influenced by age-related and individual factors.
