Öz

This study examines the role of industrial design in the context of natural disasters and explores the innovative potential of the Design Thinking approach within disaster management processes. This research analyzes post-disaster product and service design processes, evaluating how design can serve as a transformative tool through the axes of empathy, ethical awareness, and sustainable innovation. A mixed-methods approach was employed in the study. Quantitative data were collected from 39 senior industrial design students using the Global Social Responsibility Scale, while qualitative data were obtained through visual thematic analysis of 25 design projects developed in the context of natural disasters. Quantitative findings indicate that participants possess high levels of social and environmental awareness, while qualitative analysis demonstrates that this awareness is embodied in design outcomes emphasizing resilience, community engagement, and innovation-oriented solutions.

Afet Yönetiminde Tasarım Odaklı Düşünmenin Yenilikçi Potansiyelinin İncelenmesi

Öz

Bu çalışma, doğal afetler bağlamında endüstriyel tasarımın rolünü ve Tasarım Odaklı Düşünme (Design Thinking) yaklaşımının afet yönetimi süreçlerindeki yenilikçi potansiyelini incelemektedir. Bu araştırma, doğal afetler sonrasında ürün ve hizmet tasarımı süreçlerini analiz ederek, tasarımın empati, etik farkındalık ve sürdürülebilir yenilik eksenlerinde nasıl bir dönüşüm aracı hâline gelebileceğini değerlendirmektedir. Araştırma, karma yöntemli bir yaklaşımla yürütülmüştür. Nicel veriler, Küresel Sosyal Sorumluluk Ölçeği aracılığıyla 4. sınıf endüstriyel tasarım bölümü öğrencilerinden oluşan 39 katılımcıdan toplanmıştır. Nitel veriler ise, afet bağlamında geliştirilen 25 proje çalışmasının görsel tematik analizi yoluyla değerlendirilmiştir. Nicel bulgular, katılımcıların sosyal ve çevresel farkındalık düzeylerinin yüksek olduğunu; nitel analiz ise bu farkındalığın dayanıklılık, toplumsal katılım ve yenilik odaklı tasarım çıktılarıyla somutlaştığını göstermektedir.
