The Turks and the Japanese to get to know each other closely as late as the nineteenth century, by the twentieth century, both sides tried to improve the relations. Turkey has attracted the attention of Japan because it is a Middle Eastern country and serves as a bridge to the West. Japan was seen as a potential economic partner for Turkey due to its developing economy and technological activities. In fact, both countries intend to develop political and economic relations for a long time. Although the bureaucrats of the two countries came together many times, the desired economic result could not be achieved. Even though cultural activities allow the people of the two countries to get to know each other closely, the two countries do not give priority to each other in their foreign policies. This hindered the development of relations. In this study, the desire of the two countries to develop political, cultural and economic relations has been questioned. As a result, it has been concluded that political convergence provides cultural convergence but does not increase economic relations much. However, Japan needs Turkey as a reliable ally in the Middle East, and Turkey needs Japan as a country where it can develop strategic cooperation in the Far East.
