Health Promotion

Yıl 2019, Cilt: 2 Sayı: 1, 21 - 29, 01.01.2019

Öz

Health promotion is a process in which both individuals and non-governmental organizations, public institutions and organizations create social awareness by making efforts together in order to protect and improve the health of the individual and society. Health promotion has five priority action areas: build healthy public policy, create supportive environments for health, strengthen community action for health, develop personal skills, and re-orient health services. 9 global conferences have been held so far for health promotion. Health promotion can be classified according to places of activity, population and fields of activity. Health promotion is different from other approaches; it focuses on the environments that affect the health and well-being of people and societies (working, playing, having fun, taking decisions, etc.) and address these factors in a coordinated way. In doing so, it unites society, public institutions and organizations and civil society organizations together with the individual.
