Bu çalışma, ortaokul sekizinci sınıf öğrencilerine yönelik okutulan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti İnkılap Tarihi ve Atatürkçülük dersi konuları ile ilgili 1997-2023 yılları arasında yayımlanmış yüksek lisans ve doktora tezlerinin farklı değişkenler çerçevesinde bibliyometrik bir analizini sunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini, sekizinci sınıf İnkılap Tarihi konularının öğretimi ile ilgili hazırlanmış 79 yüksek lisans ve 13 doktora tezi olmak üzere toplam 92 lisansüstü tez oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmaya 2023 yılında yayımlanan tezlerin de dahil edilmesi ile ulaşılan bulgulara göre; İnkılap Tarihi konuları öğretimi ile ilgili tez en çok 2019 yılında gerçekleştirilmiş, erkek araştırmacılar kadın araştırmacılara göre alanla ilgili daha fazla tez yürütmüşlerdir. İnkılap Tarihi konuları ile ilgili Gazi Üniversitesi bünyesinde diğer üniversitelere kıyasla daha fazla tez üretilmiştir. Bibliyometrik analiz bulgularına göre, alanla ilgili tezlerde araştırmacılar tarafından en çok nicel yöntemin kullanılmış olduğu ortaya çıkarılmış ve İnkılap Tarihi konuları öğretiminin eğitimbilim planlamaları çerçevesinde incelendiği saptanmıştır. Aynı zamanda tezleri yürüten araştırmacıların alanla ilgili öğretim programı, ders kitabı ve öğretmen kaynaklı birçok sorun tespit ettikleri ve bunlara yönelik öneriler geliştirdikleri bulgulanmıştır. Tezlerde dersin öğretiminde yeni yaklaşımların kullanılmasının ve öğretim materyallerinin çeşitlendirilmesinin, öğrencilerin derse karşı tutumlarında ve akademik başarılarının artmasında olumlu etkisi olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Education; It is the process of providing knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors to the individual at every stage of the environment in which he lives. During the education process, the desired behavioral changes in the student are aimed. However, it is essential that these desired behavioral changes be addressed within a pedagogical framework. From the perspective of history education, the aim of the knowledge of the past to create the desired behavioral change in the individual has made it necessary to carry out history teaching within a certain plan and to determine the methods, techniques and approaches to be used in the lesson. In this context, History of Revolution courses, which shed light on recent Turkish history, are important in that they explain the founding process of the new Republic of Turkey, are used as a tool for the adoption of Ataturk's Principles and Revolutions, and are given the duty of citizenship education. However, while teaching History of Revolution subjects at the primary education level, the past remains abstract in the mind of the individual, making it necessary to examine this course more within the pedagogical framework. In this regard, findings and suggestions on how teachers can apply methods and approaches that allow the subjects of Revolutionary History to be presented with concrete data at a level that an eighth grade student can understand are considered important in teaching this course.
The aim of this study is to analyze the postgraduate theses on teaching the subjects of the History of Revolution of the Republic of Turkey and Kemalism in the eighth grade within the framework of pedagogy and to determine their general tendencies, and at the same time to try to reveal the place of this course in the learning and teaching process at the secondary school level. For this purpose, the tendencies of theses have been tried to be shown in detail by examining the theses related to the field and categorizing various variables.
In the study, document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The population of the research consists of 92 postgraduate theses prepared on the teaching of the History of Revolution and Kemalism between 1997-2023. No sample selection was made in the research, and an attempt was made to access all postgraduate theses studied between 1997 and 2023 by using various keywords related to the field in the database of the National Thesis Center of the Higher Education Institution. The data obtained was analyzed with the descriptive analysis method. According to the findings, more thesis studies were conducted at the secondary school level in 2019 regarding the subjects and teaching of Revolutionary History and Kemalism than in other years. It has been determined that male researchers carry out more thesis studies on the History of Revolution and Kemalism than female researchers. Gazi University left behind other universities in the study of subjects related to the field and ranked first in thesis studies at both master's and doctoral levels. The fact that doctoral theses are less frequently conducted in the field compared to master's level theses is associated with the fact that doctoral departments related to the History of Revolution have been opened in universities in fewer numbers than other departments in terms of quantity. According to the methodological findings of the research, theses on the History of Revolution and Kemalism were prepared using mostly quantitative methods. It is considered that researchers who carry out thesis studies on teaching History of Revolution subjects prefer a narrower study group size, which prevents them from providing a broad framework for teaching the field. In this regard, it is recommended that researchers conduct their studies by expanding their sample groups. In theses related to the field, method applications and teaching materials were mostly preferred as research topics. In this regard, drama, local and oral history, evidence-based learning and new approaches to learning are used as teaching methods; It has been determined that archive documents, educational documentaries, historical films and literary products related to the field are preferred as teaching materials. When evaluated from this perspective, it has been determined that the main objectives of the theses are to examine the effects of various teaching methods and approaches used within the scope of teaching the course on students' learning, academic success and attitudes towards the course. In the analyzed postgraduate theses, the problems identified by the researchers regarding the field are mostly about how the field should be taught. Accordingly, it has been determined that the researchers who conducted the theses have developed many suggestions for teachers and the Ministry of National Education.
