Clay fraction is extracted and clay minerals are examined in Upper Cretaceous-Tertiary aged sediments around
of Burdur Lake. illite, chotorite. smectite and 14s-14C
mixed layer are identified. Major element analyses made and structural
formulas are calculated belonging to monomineralic smectites. According to these results the present day minerals are
ofoctahedral (beidellite) and trioctahedral (AI-Fe saponite).
