Değirmencilik and Yeniköy
formations at north of Thrace basin were examined by means of detailed
sedimantalogic and petrographic studies. In this study, reservoir rock features
of sandstones were studied with thin section, sonic well log, core, and
scanning electron microscope (SEM) works. Results of laboratory analysis yield
that sandstones of Değirmencik and Yeniköy formations have a reservoir rock
potential for oil. Petrographic studies indicate that dissolution of carbonate
and feldspars together with pressure dissolutions facilitate widening of
secondary pores in sandstones providing development of diagenetic traps.
