MERSİN’İN EKONOMİDEKİ ROLÜ VE POTANSİYELİ

Öz

Mersin’in ekonomideki rolü ve potansiyelini belirleyebilmemiz için öncelikle Mersin gibi orta ölçekli şehirler ile büyük şehirlerin arasındaki temel farklılıklara bakmamız gerekmektedir. Büyük şehirlerle ilgili farklılıkları belirleme, orta ölçekli şehir karakteristiklerinin tespitine yardımcı olacaktır. İş yapma şekilleri de şehir karakteristiklerinden etkilenebilmektedir. Bu çalışmada da Mersin’in ekonomik potansiyelini ortaya koyabilmek ve rekabet gücünü artırabilmek için global kriterler çerçevesinde mevcut durum ve potansiyeli analiz edilmektedir

Öz

Before identifying the economic role and potential of Mersin, we have to determine the difference between the big and medium-sized cities. Identifying the difference related with big cities would help to determine the typology of mediumsized cities. The way of doing businesses may be effected by the medium-sized city characteristics. Besides, we need to analyze global criterions for the success of cities. In this study for the purpose of outline and improvement of the Mersin competitiveness within the global criterions, current situations and potentials are analyzed
